elim christian centre

Where we've come from...

Elim Christian Centre (formly known at Alexandra Park Avenue Elim or APA) was birthed in 1953 and opened its doors to the York Road community on September 12th that year. The first Pastor was William McKeown, a young pastor fresh out of Bible College. Throughout those early years three more Pastor's ministered at ECC including two Irish Superintendents.

The fifth Pastor was the current Irish Superintendent Pastor Eric McComb. Eric and along with wife Ruth servered at ECC for 15 years before Eric took up his post of Superintendent. In the 1980's Pastor Scott took charge and lead the church faithfully.

In 1996 ECC now under the leadership of John Legge relocated to the top end of Alexandra Park Avenue after buying the Gilpins factory a company who supplied protective clothing to the work force. This new campus opened up many doors for ministry as it provided a lot more space.

In January 2003 Brian Madden was appointed Senior Pastor after serving 4 years as Assistant. Within a year plans were already being made to build a new state-of-the-art worship complex on the same campus while retaining the current building as our youth centre. In May 2005 that dream became reality as we opened our new worship centre, complete with the latest audio and multimedia facilities.

At the start of 2007 our leadership team was strengthened with the arrival of Pastor Stephen Mitchell who was brought in to work along with Pastor Brian.
